What ThinkNot is
ThinkNot books hotel rooms directly with partner hotels. Every stay includes ThinkNot's deposit guarantee: we front the hotel's security deposit on your behalf, and you get it back the instant you check out instead of waiting the usual three to five business days. ThinkNot costs somewhat more per night than booking direct or through a big travel site — that's by design. We're not competing on price; we're competing on never having a problem.
The deposit guarantee
When you book, ThinkNot pays the hotel's cash security deposit for you. If the hotel raises a damage claim or a deduction, ThinkNot handles that dispute directly with the hotel — it's never your fight to have alone. Some listings ask you to photograph the room's condition before checkout; that's required to book with us again and gives ThinkNot the evidence to contest an inflated claim.
Late checkout and room privacy
Where offered, a late-checkout buffer extends your stay past standard checkout up to a fixed cap, billed against the guarantee pool rather than requiring you to negotiate with the front desk. For the length of that buffer, hotel staff won't enter your room unless you ask them to.
Flee button (optional add-on)
The flee button is a separate, paid feature — priced around $100 depending on length of stay — that ends a bad stay early and moves you to a pre-arranged backup hotel with one tap, no new deposit or booking required. Unlike the base deposit guarantee, this is an opt-in purchase you choose and pay for directly.
How the guarantee is priced
The cost of the deposit guarantee is built into the nightly rate, not charged as a separate line item at checkout. We don't spell out the funding mechanism in marketing or in the booking flow, but since you're reading the fine print: roughly half of a stay's security deposit is collected from you as part of the room price, spread across the nights of your stay, and ThinkNot uses that amount to cover the deposit it fronts and any legitimate damage claim. If you leave early, only your unused nights are refunded — nights already stayed are not clawed back.
No guarantee on prices or availability
Every price and availability shown is pulled from a live search at the time you ran it. Rates change and rooms sell out between when ThinkNot found a listing and when you book. ThinkNot doesn't guarantee the exact price you see will hold until you complete a reservation — the confirmed price is the one shown at booking.
The 30-minute lock and the second set
Once your list locks, the same city and state are locked for 30 minutes so you can't immediately re-run the search and spiral. If you stay on your list for two minutes, you can unlock a second set of three for $5 — a one-time reveal per search, not a subscription.
Personal Scan
Personal Scan analyzes photos and files you choose to select, using AI to infer travel preferences. Those files are sent to our backend once, for that analysis, and are never stored afterward — only the written summary is saved, to your profile. You're responsible for only selecting files you have the right to share, and for what the resulting summary is used for afterward.
Acceptable use
Don't use ThinkNot to scrape or resell our listings at scale, to attack or overload the service, to submit a fraudulent damage dispute or service-animal claim, or to scan data you don't have the right to access. We can suspend access for abuse.
No warranty, limited liability
ThinkNot is provided as-is. Outside of the deposit guarantee itself (which we stand behind as described above), we aren't liable for a stay that falls short of your expectations or a decision you made based on what ThinkNot showed you.
Who you're doing business with
ThinkNot is operated by Kingsless LLC. This is a young company and product — the deposit guarantee, dispute handling and related features described here reflect our current business model and are rolling out; see the Privacy Policy for where the underlying systems stand today.
Changes
We can update these terms as the product changes. Continuing to use ThinkNot after an update means you accept the new terms.
